Capital Project Capacity Grants for Nonprofit Organizations (Winter–Spring 2026)

The Cultural Center needs an elevator! It's definitely a project that's on our radar, but it's just an idea until we have a plan. Getting that means hiring an architect & an engineer, gathering community input, and creating a whole stack of documents. 

As luck would have it, the CCD has been awarded a $50,000 grant to do just that. These funds will allow us to complete all of those pre-construction tasks to get us ready to launch a targeted capital fundraising campaign.  

The timeframe is super short though! Our completion deadline for this work is be June 2026!

Chewelah Creative District celebrating arts and community projects.
The CCD is eligible to apply for state funds every 2 years for local, collaborative, capital projects.

Only Washington State Certified Creative Districts are eligible for the Creative Districts Capital Projects (CDCP) Grant. These funds allow creative districts to make small-scale capital investments, bringing in new activity and income for local artists, artisans, and businesses.

2024-2025 Capital Projects

City of Chewelah - Infrastructure improvements at Chewelah City Park. Updating/replacing the electrical system in the market area of the park.

KCHW 102.7 FM - façade improvements including installing call letter signage, painting the KCHW side of the building, adding on to the awning at the entrance, an immersive, 3D selfie mural, and a 65ft kinetic sculpture ,light installation. 

Aaron Huff Memorial Cultural Center - Commission & install a bronze memorial plaque for the front of the building and updates & repairs on the exterior lighting and awnings. 

The extended completion date for these projects is June 2026.
